April 30, 2008; The Reds made it to the Finals!

It was the goal by Paul Scholls in the 14th minute that sealed the deal for the Mancheter United Football Team, as they beat the Barcelona FC to secure themselves a final slot at Moscow for the UEFA Champions League Final match, against the winner of the semifinal between Liverpool and Chelsea.

This week in American Idol, the top 5 contestants will sing the songs of Neil Diamond. So, it should be a wonderful show to catch! It will be shown later on at 6:00 pm on Star World and 6:30 pm on QTV Channel 11.

Yesterday, after resting for about an hour, me and my parents went to the SM HyperMarket to buy the groceries. I bought a pen and a planner at National for this coming school year, and for me to organize my time.

Now onto NBA news, Larry Brown, former coach of the Knicks, Pacers, Sixers, and Pistons is now the new head coach of the Charlotte Bobcats, the third coach in franchise history. announced just this morning. Brown, who is already a part of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, inducted in 2002, bring his 23 years of coaching to the Bobcats. Michael Jordan, the Bobcats' Managing Member of Basketball Operations said that Brown will be a big asset to the organization because he's one of the best.

Hornets' head coach Byron Scott was awarded the Red Auerbach trophy as the 2007-08 NBA Coach of the Year. Scott, on his fourth-season as the Hornets' head coach, brought them to the playoffs this season as the 2nd seed in the Western Conference. He received a total of 458 points, including 70 first-place votes. Celtics' head coach Doc Rivers came in second with 242 points and Rockets' head coach Rick Adelman came in third with 193 points. Scott is the first coach in Hornets' franchise history to receive the award.

Now, here's the continuing coverage of the 2008 NBA Playoffs.

First up, Game 5 between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Detroit Pistons. Wherein the Pistons won, 98-81, to lead the series, 3-2. The Pistons were led by Chauncey Billups with 21 points and 12 assists, while Rip Hamilton added 20 points. Meanwhile for the Sixers, Andre Iguodala led with 21 points and 6 assists. Game 6 will be played at Philadelphia on Friday.

Next is the series between the Dallas Mavericks and the New Orleans Hornets. The triple-double performance of Chris Paul made it sure that the Hornets moves on and eliminate the Mavs, 99-94. The Hornets are the 3rd team to moved on to the conference semfinal round. Chris Paul had 24 points, 15 assists and 11 rebounds for the Hornets while David West had 25 points and 7 rebounds. The Mavs, who are now out of the playoffs, were led by Dirk Nowitzki with 22 points and 13 rebounds. The Hornets won the series, 4-1.

Now, the fifth game of the series between the Utah Jazz and the Houston Rockets from the Toyota Center in Houston. Wherein the Rockets never gave up and won, 95-69, to force a Game 6 at Utah on Saturday. Tracy McGrady had 29 points and 5 rebounds for the Rockets while Luis Scola had 18 points and 12 rebounds. The Jazz on the other hand were led by Carlos Boozer with a double-double, 19 points and 10 rebounds. The Jazz still leads the series however, at 3-2.


And the last game of the night was between the Phoenix Suns and the San Antonio Spurs. Wherein the Spurs were the fourth team to advance by beating the Suns, 92-87, and winning the series, 4-1. Tony Parker had 31 points and 8 assists for the Spurs, while Tim Duncan was right there and added 29 for them. The Suns were led by Boris Diaw with 22 points and 8 rebounds on a losing effort, and thus, out from the playoffs. The Spurs will now face the New Orleans Hornets in the West Semifinals.

I just came from my dentist, because of my retainers, it was adjusted. Today is my appoinment with her, andit's once a month, so there. I will go back on the 27th of May. And on the 29th of May, it will be our enrollment for the upcoming 1st semester, SY 2008-09, so to all my blockmates, see you there ayt!

Now, onto the continuing coverage of the 2008 NBA Playoffs!

First, Game 5 between the Toronto Raptors and the Orlando Magic, wherein Orlando managed to the 1st team to advance to the conference semis round, beating the Raptors, 102-92, much to the delight of the Amway Arena crowd, winning the series in five games, 4-1. Dwight Howard had his 3rd 20-20 performance in this series, with 21 points, 21 rebounds and 3 blocks. Jameer Nelson added 19 points and 3 assists for the Magic, who passed the first round of the Playoffs after 12 long years of drought. And for the Raptors, who will now sit along the sideline with the loss, were led by Chris Bosh with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Orlando is now awaiting for the winner of the Detroit-Philadelphia series, and I think, Orlando will have to waiting for about a week, because it's a great series to watch, now tied at 2-2.

Next, the game of the night between the Boston Celtics and the Atlanta Hawks, wherein the Hawks managed to pull another upset against the best team in the league this season, the Celtics, 97-92, to tie the series at 2-2. The young Hawks squad were led by Joe Johnson with 30 points, scoring 20 of it in the 4th quarter, while Josh Smith had 28 points and 7 blocks. The C's were led by Ray Allen with 21 points and 4 assists, while Kevin Garnett had 20 points and 9 rebounds. Game 5 will be back in Boston on Thursday.

And the last game of the night features the Denver Nuggets and the LA Lakers, who were the second team to advance to the conference semifinal round by pouncing the Nuggets via a 4-0 sweep, 107-101. Kobe Bryant led all scorers with 31 points and 7 rebounds for the Lakers. While Spaniard Pau Gasol had 21 points and 7 rebounds. While for the eliminated Nuggets, who will start their off-season early, were led by J.R. Smith scored 26 points off the bench with 3 assists. Allen Iverson and Carmelo Anthony combined for 43 points, with 22 and 21 points, respectively. The Lakers are now awaiting for the winner of the Utah-Houston series, who are now on a 3-1 slate, with the Jazz leading it.

April 29, 2008; Tough luck!

My basketball game yesterday was so close and intense! Although we lost by 2 points, 50-48, it was a good game! Through the final 10 seconds, we had the ball. After the inbounds play, my teammate got the ball, stopped and popped from the three-point area, got hacked, but, the referee didn't call it a foul. So there! He then admit that he forgot to call it because of how great the game was! The court was packed with lots of people cheering! Our record is now 1-2. There's still a second round of eimination games to determine the two teams who will battle it out on the best-of-three finals series. Now, we shoud win all of our remaining games for us to have a chance for the finals! So there!

The NBA awarded two players for their exemplary work this season. First, Grant Hill of the Phoenix Suns was awarded the 2007-08 Joes Dumars' Sportsmanship Award. Hill, a 12-year veteran, is the first player to receive this award more than once. He also won this award during the 2004-05 season.

The next awardee was Hedo Turkoglu of the Orlando Magic, who was awarded the 2007-08 NBA Most Improved Player award. He received a total of 380 points. A part of which was 61 first-place votes, from a panel of 125 sportswriters and broadcasters fropm the United States and Canada.

April 28, 2008; Back to the action!

I woke up at around 9:00 in the morning, not knowing that my parents left. My chest was hurt because of the workout yesterday, but it's ok because that meant that the workout was effective. I ate my breakfast, which was chicken noodle soup, and watched TV. Then, after which, opened up my laptop to start blogging and surfing, and here I am now. Later on this afternoon, I have a basketball game. I just hope for the best and do my best for us to win the game!

Now on PBA news, the 2008 PBA All-Star Weekend concluded yesterday on a high note. The main attraction was the All-Star Game between the North and the South All-Stars wherein the South won over the North in overtime, 163-158. Peter June Simon of the South Stars bagged the MVP honors with 29 points, leading all scorers, including five points in the extra session. With the win, the South All-Stars tied the all-time series with North at 4-4. Mark Caguioa lead the North squad with 24 points. During the introduction of the players, the North squad wowed the crowd and danced to the tune of "Papaya" and "Kagat Labi", while the South Stars had their own routine, to the tune of the hit "Crank That" by Soulja Boy.

And now, the continuing coverage of the 2008 NBA Playoffs. Here it is!

First game of the day is Game 4 between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Washington Wizards. Delonte West shot the trifecta that won them the game, 100-97, and for the Cavs to take the commanding 3-1 series lead. And as usual, LeBron James led the way for the Cavs with a double-double of 34 points and 12 rebounds, while game winning shooter Delonte West added 21 for the Cavs. Veteran Antawn Jamison led the scoring for the Wizards with 23 points and had 11 rebounds. While Caron Butler had 19. Gilbert Arenas, only had 10 points on 32 minutes of action. The series will now move back to the Rock 'N Roll Capital of America, Cleveland, Ohio, for Game 5 on Thursday.

Next, Game 4 between the Detroit Pistons and the Philadelphia 76ers wherein they are all tied up at 2 games a piece with the win by the Pistons, 93-84. Tayshaun Prince led all scorers with 23 points for the Pistons while All-Star Rasheed Wallace added 20. For the Sixers, on a losing note, 6 players scored in double digits, and they were led by Thaddeus Young with 15 points while Willie Green and Andre Miller both had 13 points. Next game will be at Detroit on Wednesday for Game 5.

Next stop, out West for Game 4 between the San Antonio Spurs and the Phoenix Suns. The Suns needed a win to stay alive and they did with a 105-86 assault against the Spurs. Raja Bell got the high scoring honors with 27 points and 6 rebounds for the Suns, while Frenchman Boris Diaw added 20 points and 10 rebounds for them. Amare Stoudemire only had 7 points while Steve Nash had 15. For the Spurs on the other hand, Tony Parker led with 18 points and 4 rebounds, while Tim Duncan added a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. The Suns still lead the series 3-1 as they head back to San Antonio for Game 5 on Wednesday. If the Spurs win, they will move on to face the winner of the New Orleans-Dallas series.

And finally, Game 4 between the New Orleans Hornets and the Dallas Mavericks which was just concluded on C/S RPN. The Hornets won easily away from their homecourt, 97-84. All-Star forward David West led all scorers with 24 points and 9 rebounds for the Hornets, while Peja Stojakovic had 19 points. 4 more Hornets player scored in double-digits, Chris Paul with 16, Jannero Pargo and Julian Wright with 11 and Morris Peterson had 10. While for the Mavs, they were led by Dirk Nowitzki's 22 points and 13 rebounds. Jason Terry added 20 points and 3 assists for the Mavs. Game 5 will be back to New Orleans on Wednesday. The Hornets now lead it, 3-1.

April 27, 2008; A much needed win!

Today was another day in the gym for me. Went to MegaMall at around 11 a.m. and went on work-out up until 1 pm. I even saw my schoolmate Miguel Masigan, who is a part of the UST Growling Tigers' back-up lineup, meaning the B team. So tiring! Then after the workout, had a good bowl of beef noodles from the Pot & Noodle House. Then, strolled around the whole mall. Chill time. Then, went home because my dad has a basketball game to catch at 7:00 pm, a game they lost. Oh well, I will do my best to avenge today's defeat by winning my game tomorrow afternoon.

Now onto the NBA. Here is the continuing coverage of the NBA Playoffs.

First is between the Orlando Magic and the Toronto Raptors, wherein the duo of Dwight Howard and Rashard Lewis did it for the Magic, who won via score of 106-94. The two scored 19 and 27 points respectively for the Magic. Howard added 16 rebounds while Lewis had 13 boards. Meanwhile, Chris Bosh's 39-point performance wasn't enough for his team to win. The Magic now lead the series 3 games to 1. The series will now move back to Orlando for Game 5 on Tuesday and maybe the last game for the series if Toronto won't win.

Next game features the LA Lakers and the Denver Nuggets, where we find the Lakers winning again, 102-84, to take the commanding 3-0 lead and needs only one more to advance to the next round. Kobe Bryant scored 22 points for the Lakers while Luke Walton had 15. The Nuggets were led by Carmelo Anthony who had 16 while Linus Kleiza and Allen Iverson both had 15, but still not enough for them to win the game. The Nuggets are on the brink of elimination and needs a win in Game 4 Tuesday, still on their home turf, to stay alive.

Now back to the East for the series between the Boston Celtics and the Atlanta Hawks where the Hawks beat the Celtics, 102-93. Josh Smith led the way for the Hawks with 27 points and 9 rebounds while All-Star Joe Johnson had 23 points and 7 rebounds. On the other side, Kevin Garnett led with a double-double of 32 points and 10 rebounds. While Paul Pierce and Ray Allen scored just 17 and 13 respectively for the Celtics. The Celtics now lead by just one game, 2-1. Next game will be on Tuesday, still at Atlanta.

And last but not least is Game 4 between the Houston Rockets and the Utah Jazz wherein the Jazz won, 86-82, to lead their series 3 games to 1. All they need is a win on Wednesday for Game 5 for them to advance to the next round. The Jazz had 6 players in double digits. They were led by Deron Williams with 17 points. Carlos Boozer and Mehmet Okur both had 14. Ronnie Brewer had 12. Andrei "AK-47" Kirilenko had 11 and Kyle Korver had 10. An all-around performance for the Jazz. Meanwhile, for the Rockets, is the usual. Tracy McGrady led with 23 points and 10 rebounds. "Skip to My Lou" Rafer Alston had 15 points for them and Carl Landry had 13.

April 26, 2008; Late post! Sorry guys!

I am sorry for the late post because this was such a busy day!

My uncle arrived from New Zealand this afternoon so we had to pick him up. From there, we went to his hotel. then, went to Mall of Asia to eat and wind. We ate at the Tagaytay Highlands Chinese Restaurant and the food there was delicious! Then, we walked around the mall to buy some of my uncle's things. After which, we dropped off my uncle to his hotel because he has a convention to attend to this week. So there!

Now back to business! The continuing coverage of the 2008 NBA Playoffs. First up, the series between the Pistons and the Sixers wherein the Sixers posted another upset against their opponent via a big margin, 95-75. Canadian Samuel Dalembert led the way for the Sixers with 22 points and 16 rebounds. While Andre Miller added 21 for the Sixers, who now leads the series, 2-1. The Pistons, however, were led by Rip Hamilton with 23 points and 6 rebounds.

The next game is between the Dalls Mavericks and the New Orleans Hornets. The Mavericks made it close up until the final quarter when the Hornets pulled away and won via a 97-87 score. Jannero Pargo had a big night for the Hornets with 30 huge points from the bench. Chris Paul added 16 for the Hornets. The Mavs were steamrolled by German Dirk Nowitzki with 32 points and 19 rebounds. The Hornets now lead the series 2-1.

The last game of the day was between the San Antonio Spurs and the Phoenix Suns. Now, the Suns should be worried because they are seriously in danger, because the Spurs won, 115-99, to lead the series 3-0. All they nee is a road win in Game 4 to advance in the West Semifinals. The Spurs were headed by the brilliant performance of Tony Parker with 41 huge points and 12 assists. Tim Duncan had 23 points and 10 rebounds. The Suns, were led by Amare Stoudemire with 28 points and 11 rebounds on a losing note.

Btw, Manchester United lost against Chelsea, 2-1 at the Old Trafford. Michael Carrick missed a penalty shot that might have tied the game, but that miss made Chelsea closer to Manchester United for total points for the Barclay's Premier League title. The next game of Man Utd will be at Old Trafford against Barcelona for the 2nd leg of their UEFA Champion's League semifinals.

April 25, 2008; A dose of their own medicine!

I woke up today at around 8:30 in the morning, kinda late for the LIVE telecast of the NBA Playoffs between the Cavs and the Wizards. I ate my breakfast uber fast for me to follw the game, and I did. Even though I was late in getting up from bed, it was all worth it because the Wizards easily defeated the Cavs! The results in a bit! :)

After watching the game, off to eat my lunch! Then, took a bath because me and my parents went out for business purposes. Then, went to Greenhills for relaxation. Haha! Ate dinner at House of Mini's, then went home! Tomorrow, my uncle will be arriving from NZ so it will be another day for me and our family.

Now, onto the NBA news. The Toronto Raptors went on to win at home against the Orlando Magic, 108-94, to stay alive, making it just a 2-1 Magic lead in their best-of-seven series. Former Buck T.J. Ford led the Raptors with 21 points and 5 rebounds. Spaniard Jose Calderon added 18 points for the Raptors. Meanwhile, Turkish Hedo Turkoglu led the way for the Magic with 26 points and 7 rebounds, while Dwight Howard added a double-double performance with 19 points and 12 rebounds on 3 consecutive playoff games for Magic. Next game will still be at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto at 3:00 a.m. LIVE on Basketball TV.

The next game made history for both of the teams. Why? Simply because of the margin of defeat. The Washington Wizards gave the Cleveland Cavaliers a taste of their own medicine when they avenged their 30-point defeat on Game 2 with a 36- point win, 108-72. The winning margin was the largest in the Wizards' playoff history and the losing margin was the largest in the Cavaliers' playoff history. The trouncing was led by DeShawn Stevenson with 19 points on 5 out of 7 from the rainbow country. Four other Wizard players scored in doule figures namely Roger Mason, Caron Butler, Antawn Jamison and Brendan Haywood with 18, 17, 15 and 14 points respectively. Gilbert Arenas, who went out of the game late in the second quarter because of his knee, just scored two points on just 10 minutes of play. LeBron James led the way for the Cavs with 22 points on 10 out of 19 shooting. Note that no other Cav player scored in double digits. The Wizards made the series 2-1, still in favor of the Cavs. The next game will still be played inside the Verizon Center in Washington D.C. on Monday, April 28 at 1:00 in the morning.

And the last game for the day was Game 3 between the Jazz and the Rockets wherein the Rockets avenged 2 losses at home with a win away, 94-92, to trail the Jazz just one game, 2-1, in their best-of-seven series. Tracy McGrady, went out on his fourth-quarter slump in the playoffs to lead the the Rockets with 27 points and 7 assists, while "Skip to my Lou" Rafer Alston had 20. The Jazz meanwhile, choked at home, but were led by Deron Williams with 28 points and 12 assists. Carlos Boozer had a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds. April 24, 2008; House marathon! Playoffs continuing coverage!

I ended the day yesterday watching 4 episodes of the Season 4 of House M.D. (Ep. 6-9). I've learned many things about House, Wilson, Cuddy and the entire crew. One of the appilicants, number 13, said that "You can't do everything right, but you can't do everything wrong..." What are line right there. That's really proves a point. You can't always win, because there are also times when you are going to lose. That served as my lesson for the day. I will live up to that, I will remember that line for a very long time. Towards the end of episode 9, Dr. House should make a decision on who should he hire as his new staff as per the orders of Dr. Cuddy. Only 4 are left. He chose to fire 2 of them, the "Cut throat bitch" Dr. Amber and Dr. 13. He retained Drs. Kutner and Taub, the two gentlemen left in the hunt. But, Dr. Cuddy said that he should also hired a woman. So, she said to hired Dr. 13. Cuddy sensed that it was House's plan all along, to hire 3 doctors instead of 2, which Dr. Cuddy said.

I'm now excited how the series will go. Now that he has a new staff, and his old staff, inside the same hospital. What will House do? We'll find out once I've watched the continuation of the series.

Later today, I will have a basketball game, at around 6 in the evening. I hope we win, for us to bounce back from a loss last week.

And now for football news. The UEFA Champions' League semifinal match between Manchester United and Barcelona ended in a nil-nil affair. Both clubs didn't score even after 90 minutes of action. It was played 2:45 a.m. Manila time from the Nou Camp at Barcelona, Spain. Barcelona was the only Non-English club to still be in the hunt. Barca is joined by Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United.

Reds' midfielder Cristiano Ronaldo warned Barcelona that he will bounce back from a penalty kick miss to win the 2nd leg of their semis which will be played at Old Trafford on April 30, Wednesday, at 2:45 in the morning. Ronaldo also said that the team now has built confidence in winning on Wednesday because they are playing home, and he pledged that this time, he is going to score a goal. We'll just find it out next Wednesday after their clash at Old Trafford.

And now, American Idol news. Carly Smithson was axed from the competition because she garnered the lowest number of votes. She was joined by Syesha Mercado in the bottom two. Brooke White, who forgot the lyrics of the song and repeated it from the start, was shocked when Ryan Seacrest said that she was safe from the bottom slots. Judge Randy Jackson said that maybe this week was a popularity contest, due to the exit of Smithson. Now, there are only five contestants left to vie for this season's title of American Idol. They are David Archuleta, David Cook, Jason Castro, Syesha Mercado, and Brooke White. Next week will be another week for Idol, and we'll all find out what will happen.

And now for NBA news! Here it is! Detroit pounced Philadelphia, 105-88 to even up their series at 1-1. Rip Hamilton led the way for the Pistons while rookie Louis Williams led the Sixers.

April 23, 2008; Clinton wins Pennsylvania primary; The Celtics aren't done yet!

News just in. US Democratic Presidential candidate Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) won the Pennsylvania primary election against her arch-rival Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL). The win assured Clinton a chance to become the official Democratic candidate for the Elections on November. The overall winner of the primaries will face the official Republican candidate Sen. John McCain (R-AZ). The next primary election will be pitted tomorrow at the Hoosier state of Indiana.

Now onto NBA news. The New Orleans Hornets easily picked the win against the Dallas Mavericks, 127-103, to lead their series, 2-0. They were led by their MVP candidate Chris Paul who scored 32 points and dished out a new franchise-record 17 assists. All-Star forward David West added 27 points and 5 assists for the 2nd seeded Hornets. Dirk Nowitzki scored 27 points and had 5 rebounds in a losing effort for the Mavericks. The series will now shift to Dallas for Game 3.

Now to Orlando where the Magic escaped with a win against the visiting Raptors, 104-103, to lead their own series 2-0. The Magic has never been this dominating inside the paint since the Shaquille O'Neal era. All-Star center and Slam Dunk champion Dwight Howard had his 2nd straight 20-20 performance with 29 points and a massive 20 rebounds. Rashard Lewis contributed with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the Magic. Chris Bosh had a double-double performance with 29 points and 10 rebounds on a 1-point losing effort for the Raptors. The teams will now head up north to the Air Canada Centre in Toronto for Game 3.

And now, for the last game of the day, between the Phoenix Suns and the San Antonio Spurs. The Spurs lead the Suns, 101-96 in the 4th quarter. Raja Bell picks up his 4th foul, which means free throws for the Spurs. The Spurs made one. Then, they held on to win it, 102-96. They were led by the husband of Eva Longoria, Tony Parker, who scored 32 points, had 2 rebounds and had 7 assists. Manu Ginobili finished the game with 28 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists for the Spurs. The Suns on the other hand were led by Amare Stoudemire with 33 points and 7 rebounds. April 22, 2008; MANU-vering his way onto the Sixth Man Award!

Yesterday, me, my dad, and my grandpa, went to a friend for a gathering. They served an array of foods because it was dinner time. Who ever wondered that I could eat turtles and rabbits on the same meal? Wow! It was delicious! Trust me, it tasted like chicken for me, simply like frog legs! By the way, I didn't eat it raw, it was cooked for pete sake. Haha!

Now onto NBA news. Earlier today, Manu Ginobili of the San Antonio Spurs was awarded the 2007-08 NBA Sixth Man Award, the first time the Argentinian won the award. He received a total of 143 out of a possible 144 first-place vote, with 615 total votes. Last year's Sxth Man awardee Leandro Barbosa came in second with 283 points and Jason Terry of the Dallas Mavericks completed the top 3 with 44 points.

The Cleveland Cavaliers dominated the Washington Wizards, 116-86, to lead their best-of-seven series 2 games to none, much to the happiness of the crowd inside the Q. LeBron James finished with a double-double performance with 30 points, 12 assists, 9 rebounds and a steal for the Cavs, while Zydrunas Ilgauskas added 16. For the Wizards, who are now on a big hole, should win the next game to somehow inch their way back to it. Caron Butler, DeShawn Stevenson, and Darius Songaila, scored 12 points each for the Wizards, while Gilbert Arenas scored just seven points because of a sore wrist. The series will now shift to the Verizon Center in the capital of the United States, Washington D.C. on Friday morning Manila time.

The Utah Jazz also won against the Houston Rockets, 90-84, to lead their own series 2-0. The frontcourt of the Jazz simply made the difference with Kirilenko, Okur, and Boozer going in for the points and grabbing the boards. Now, the Rockets realize that without All-Star center Yao Ming, they can't win the inside battle. The Jazz were led by their court general, Deron Williams, who scored 22 points, had 1 rebound and dished out 5 assists. Mehmet Okur contributed with a double-double performance of 16 points and 16 rebounds. The series will now shift to the EnergySolutions Arena in beautiful Salt Lake City, Utah for Game 3 Friday.

Yesterday was a good day, and night as well! I watched my dad play basketball for the senior's division basketball tournament for our village's sportsfest. They won by eleven points, 78-67. Their next game will be on Saturday, while our team's next game will be on Thursday, hope that this time, we will win too!

Here I am again for more of the latest sports happenings!



First, in the PBA. The Welcoat Dragons snapped their 15-game losing streak as they found a way to defeat the PureFoods Tender Juicy Giants, 110-103, at the Araneta Coliseum yesterday night. They were led by one of their two imports, Marquis Gainous with 25 points while former number 1 pick Joe Devance contributed with 16 markers. On the other side, former MVP James Yap was held to just seven points, his lowest since having just five points during the 2005-2006 Fiesta Conference Finals mathup between the Red Bull Barako. The Giants were led by their import Darius Rice who scored 28 points while former MBA MVP Roger Yap added 22. The win placed Welcoat on solo ninth place with a 1-4 win-loss slate. The Giants meanwhile dropped to 2-3.

And on the second game, the Magnolia Beverage Masters spoiled the must-have been first win by the Brgy. Ginebra Gin Kings by beating them, 95-92. Import Jameel Watkins scored 20 for the Masters while Kings imports Ernest Brown scored 18 points. Jayjay Helterbrand and Mark Caguioa contributed with 18 and 16 points respectively for the Gin Kings. With the loss, the Gin Kings was left on the cellar alone with no wins in 5 outings.

April 20, 2008; Uber busy day for sports enthusiasts!

As promised, here I am to update you guys about today's happenings in the world of sports. First up, the first round of the 2008 NBA PlayOffs.

At Cleveland, Ohio, LeBron James poured in 32 points as his Cavaliers defeated the Washington Wizards, 93-86, in Game 1 of their best-of-seven first round series, much to the delight of the 20,562 fans inside the Quicken Loans Arena. The Cavs now lead the series 1-0. Gilbert Arenas led the Wizards with 24 points off the bench for just 27 minutes and 47 seconds on the playing court while Antawn Jamison had 24. Brendan Haywood finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Wizards, who are looking forward for a win on Tuesday.

Next stop, New Orleans, Louisiana. Where we find the New Orleans Hornets winning in a come-from-behind fashion beating the Dallas Mavericks, 104-92. MVP candidate Chris Paul led the way for the Hornets, scoring 35 points and dished out 10 assists. While for the Mavericks, the reigning MVP Dirk Nowitzki scored 31 points and had 10 rebounds. The Hornets lead the series 1-0.

Now, to the Alamo, San Antonio, Texas. Wherein the San Antonio Spurs pulled off the first hurrah asthey pounced the Phoenix Suns 117-115 in double overtime. Tim Duncan scored 40 points and had 15 rebounds for the Spurs, who also scored the 3-point basket to force the 2nd extra session. Steve Nash scored a big three-point basket to force another tie in the 2nd overtime, 115-115, with 15 seconds left. But, the Spurs countered with Manu Ginobili's drive to the basket for the 117-115 win. Amare Stoudemire led the way for the Suns with 33 points.

And the last game for the day, at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, the Utah Jazz won over the Houston Rockets, spoiling the homecourt advantage of the Rockets, 93-82. Andrei "AK-47" Kirilenko scored 21 points for the Jazz, while Carlos Boozer and Deron Williams contributed with 20 points each. Whilst for the Rockets, their depleted lineup made the difference, they're without Yao Ming because of a knee injury. Shane Battier led with 22 points while Tracy McGrady had 20 across his name. The Jazz was the only team on the road to win today.

Celino Cruz of the Red Bull Barako was awarded with the Best Player of the Game award because of his performance in the overtime period. He scored 13 of his 19 points from the said period and 3 out of 4 from the 3-point area. His 19 points tied his best career output from the Game 6 of the recent Philippine Cup semis series vs the San Miguel Beermen (now the Magnolia Beverage Masters).

Tomorrow, there will be games at the historic Araneta Coliseum. And here they are:

The fight will be held at the Bell Centre, at the hometown of St. Pierre, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. This will be the biggest UFC event ever with 21,000 tickets sold. Also featured is the middleweight fight between Rich "Ace" Franklin vs. Travis "The Serial Killer" Luther, plus may more. You can catch all the action live on the Balls Channel 33 on Sky Cable at 10 am.

The Playoffs are now set! It will kick-off Sunday morning Manila time with the game from the East side featuring the 5th seeded Washington Wizards against the 4th seeded Cleveland Cavaliers straight from the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio at 12:30 a.m. which will be telecast LIVE only on BTV, Basketball Above All. Followed by the West series of tthe he 6th seeded Phoenix Suns vs the 3rd seeded San Antonio Spurs from the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas at 3:00 a.m. But for the guys who doesn't have BTV, there will be a telecast on C/S RPN featuring the West series of the 4th seeded Utah Jazz vs the 5th seeded Houston Rockets from the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas live at 9:30 a.m. also on Sunday. And in case you guys are wondering, the Houston Rockets have the homecourt advantage even though they are seeded lower than the Jazz is because they finished the season with the better record compare to their opponent, which is the Jazz. And another game, which unfortunately won't be featured to the Philippine public wuld be the series between the 7th seeded Dallas Mavericks vs the 2nd seeded New Orleans Hornets.

April 17, 2008; Excited for the Playoffs!

Today is the last day of the regular season in the NBA, and come Sunday Manila time, the 2008 Playoffs will be rolling! The Golden State Warriors were eliminated from playoff contention after losing to Phoenix Suns last Tuesday. And, in the East, the Indiana Pacers were also eliminated after losing to the Washington Wizards on the same day. Another thing is, my team, the Wizards, number 5 in the East, which means they are going to face the Cleveland Cavaliers for 3 staright seasons in the playoffs. I bet this will be a great season because the Wiz will seek revenge after losing to the Cavaliers 2 straight times in the past Playoffs. And with a healthy Arenas on the lineup, this should be a classic in the making.

April 14, 2008; Uma-AMBOn sa labas!

Yes, it's true. For the first time this year, a typhoon entered our country which was aptly named "Ambo", which caused the early morning upsurge of water drops. And according to reports, the typhoon will make it's exit Thursday afternoon. So more caution for everyone. Bring umbrellas or raincoats whenever you plan to go out.
