June 23, 2008; Another sunny day!
The Sun appeared today, after a day of hiatus, because of typhoon Frank.I just read a portion of the book entitled, "The Pretenders". Then, I practically had a good rest day by texting my friends, watching TV, and now, surfing the net. So there. After eating my dinner, my parents and I went to Pasig to bring a document to a client of my dad. Then, we bought Slurpee's. So delicious! Mountain Dew Livewire flava!Tomorrow will be another rest day for me and for many others because of "Araw ng Maynila". So Wednesday will be our return day. June 22, 2008; Quite FRANK-ly!
I suddenly woke up around 4:30 in the morning after I heard whistling sounds produced by the strong winds. It was so strong that it was able to cut down huge portions of the trees along the street! And even cutting off the electricity! The strong winds lasted for about 3 hours! I slept after about 10 minutes of being up, because I thought that it was so early! I woke up again, at around 8:30 a.m. I ate my breakfast then, listened to the radio for some info about the typhoon named Frank. Signal Number 3 was raised here in Metro Manila earlier today, up until 5 in the afternoon, where the storm signal was levelled down to the 2nd level.Tomorrow, there will be no classes from elementary to high school level, according to the Department of Education. The Commission on Higher Education are the ones responsible for the suspension of classes for the tertiary level. So there! But in our case, the Secretary General of UST announced that there will be NO CLASSES in all levels tomorrow, as of 5 pm earlier.Even the PBA games scheduled for today were cancelled due to the bad weather. And by the way, the start of the 84th season of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) will be on June 28, Saturday, with the Mapua Institute of Technology Cardinals as the host. While the start of the 71st season of the University Athletics Association of the Philippines (UAAP) will be on July 5, Saturday, with the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons as the host, coinciding with their centennial anniversary. What a day! Hope that tomorrow won't bring that kind of weather again, so that people won't get harmed. God bless you guys! Stay safe! Peace out! The Wizard was here...

Paul Pierce led the Celtics with 20 points and 7 assists, while Ray Allen added 19 points and 9 rebounds. the Lakers on the other hand were led by Lamar Odom with 19 points and 10 rebounds while Kobe Bryant only had 17 points and 10 assists. June 9, 2008; Behold "The Show"!
This morning, Game 2 of the NBA Finals between the LA Lakers and the Boston Celtics was played. During the first quarter of action, it was a close contest, as both teams exchanged shots. It ended with the Lakers leading, 22-20.During the second quarter, in comes "The Show" Leon Powe, from the bench. He exploded and ignited the Celtic offense, much to the delight of their fans, and much to the shiggrin of the Lakers. The first half ended with the Celtics leading the game by twelve, 54-42.The third quarter was no difference as the Celtics rallied the Lakers. Their fast-breaks, and by their honest to goodness defense, the showed that they were more dominant than the Lakers. On the other hand, the Lakers are committing turnovers, and committing sloppy fouls, which sends Celtics player to the foul line, the area where the Lakers were defeated. The Lakers only attempted 10 free throw shots the whole game, as compared to 38 for the Celtics, that defense at its finest right there for the guys in green. The quarter ended with the Celtics leading by 22 points, 83-61.And finally the fourth quarter. The Celtics somehow relaxed at bit during this stage of the game, just making some shots, and committing some turnovers. That stage too, that the Lakers made a comeback. Starting the midway of the 4th, they made a run, catapulted by Kobe Bryant, as always. They cut down the lead to as low as 9 points on one point. And during the last 2 minutes, they had a 15-4 run, cutting down the lead of the Celtics to just 2 points, 104-102. But the Celtics never back down to the challenge, going to their captain Paul Pierce, and surely, he responds. He scored 2 baskets from the charity stripe extending their lead back to four, 106-102. the Lakers never scored from that point on. The Celtics held on to win the game, 108-102. John Schuhmann from NBA.com said, that the bench points from the Celtics, especially Leon Powe, was enough to prevent another miracle. The Celtics were led by "The Truth" Paul Pierce with 28 points and 8 assists, while Leon "The Show" Powe added 21 huge points off the bench with 2 rebounds. Starting point guard Rajon Rondo, had an incredible night, having 16 assists, the third highest output in Celtics' playoff history. The Lakers on the other hand were led by MVP Kobe Bryant with 30 points and 8 assists, while Pau Gasol added 17 points and 10 rebounds. The Celtics now lead the series 2-0. The series will now shift to LA for Game 3, which will be played on Wednesday, June 11 at 9 am LIVE from the STAPLES Center, Los Angeles, California and on C/S RPN!LA Lakers 102Boston 108LAL: Kobe Bryant- 30 pts, 4 rebs, 8 assts, 3 stls.BOS: Paul Pierce- 28 pts, 4 rebs, 8 assts, 1 stl.Celtics lead series 2-0.Next Game: Wednesday, June 11 @ Los Angeles, 9 am LIVE on C/S RPN.2 days left 'til first day of being a sophomore! And for the Celtic fans, pray hard so that they won't waste their 2-0 lead, and hope that the Lakers, especially Kobe, can't catch fire for 3 straight games at STAPLES, the third is not that sure yet, 'cause the Celtics might sweep the Lakers! Haha! God bless you guys! Peace out! The Wizard was here...
June 8, 2008; Who said you can't handle "The Truth"?
Yes, "The Truth" was indeed handled. Our own Filipino-Italian mixed-martial artist Brandon Vera lost today in UFC 85: Bedlam from London, England to Brazilian Fabricio "Vai Kavalo" Werdum via TKO. During the last few moments of the fight, Werdum half-mounted Vera, then after some blows, the Brazilian controlled Vera via a full-mount. Then, the Jiu Jitsu fighter threw hard shots to Vera. And after 4:40 of the very 1st round, the referee stopped the fight, thuss declaring a TKO victory in favor of Werdum, much to the shiggrin of "The Truth". He contested that we protected himself while receiving the barrage of shots from Werdum, but the referee cannot reverse his decision, so that means that Vera now has a mixed-martial arts record of 8 wins with 2 losses, with those two coming consecutively. Now here are the results of each and every fight from UFC 85: Bedlam from the 02 Arena in London, England!Preliminary Card1. June 6. 2008; Celtics drew first blood as they beat LA!
After 21 years of waiting for it to happen all over again, there it was. It was Game 1 between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics. From the rendetion of the "Star-Spangled Banner" by James Taylor to the final buzzer to end the game, it was action at it's best! It's really where amazing happens! The action was brought by Chino Trinidad and Quinito Henson straight from the TD Banknorth Garden in Boston. And as what the title of my post says, the Celtics drew first blood as they defeated the Lakers, 98-88. Kevin Garnett led the Celtics with 24 points and 13 rebounds, while Paul Pierce, who in the 3rd quarter, had a knee bump with Kendrick Perkins, and was brought to the locker room for about 10 minutes, mbut went back to the game with a standing ovation, added 22 points and 4 rebounds. The Lakers on the other hand, were led by MVP Kobe Bryant with 24 points and 6 assists. Game 2 will still be in Boston on Monday, June 9 at 9 am, LIVE on C/S RPN.LA Lakers 88Boston 98LAL: Kobe Bryant- 24 pts, 3 rebs, 6 assts, 1 stl.BOS: Kevin Garnett- 24 pts, 13 rebs, 3 assts, 1 stl.Celtics lead series 1-0.Next Game: Monday, June 9 @ Boston, 9 am LIVE on C/S RPN.Some say that the Lakers didn't execute the offense that good, that's why they lost. Some also say that the reason they lost is the Kobe missed 17 of his 26 shots. But the thing is, the Lakers blamde themselves on their lost. They scored below 100, which was bad for them, and another thing is that, the environment was not in their favor. The Celtics' crowd chanted "Beat LA" the entirety of the game, which was I think another reason why they lost. Some people also said that they just gave Game 1 to the Celtics. I mean, come on, it's the Finals, for crying out loud. This makes and breaks careers. This is where the superstars are born. So they should do their damn best to bring home the bacon. So, kudos to the Celtics on their Game 1 win. And let's see if the Lakers can bounce back on Game 2.And now, let's go to the local basketball scene for the PBA! Here are today's results straight from the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City!1st GameAlaska 86 (7-6)Air21 84 (8-6)ALA: Willie Miller- 21 pts, 4 rebs, 5 assts, 1 stl.AIR: Steven Thomas- 20 pts, 21 rebs, 4 assts, 2 stls.2nd GameSta. We will all witness the Teen Big Winner as the season concludes. Better check that out as well! After we watched the Celtics-Lakers game, we ate lunch, then, we went to my dad's client for a while down in Pasig. Then, after which, we went to Market! Market! to relax. We walked around, ate at Goldilocks, then went home at around 6:30 in the evening. So there! It's been a long day! And my summer vacation is slowly inching down to it's final days. School starts 11th of June. See ya'll guys, I can't wait! God bless! Peace out! The Wizard was here...
June 5, 2008; It's your day, my dad!
Today is my dad's -ty 4th birthday! He finished up his work at around lunchtime. Then, after eating our lunch, we went to Slimmer's MegaMall for us to work out. After almost 2 hours, we went to Seaside Julia Vargas for us to celebrate. It was a small gathering nonetheless. Me, my mom, my grandparents, my two cousins, my uncle and 3 of my dad's bestfriends since high school were the one's in the venue. We ate fresh seafoods, then had a talk. Some of them left at around 8 pm, while me, my mom, my dad as his friends stayed up until 10:30 in the evening. That was the first time they saw each other after almost a year. So they had a very long talk, with lots of flashbacks from their days before. So there. After which, we went home! Haha! What a day! Once again, happy -ty 4th birthday dad! And may you have more to come! And I hope more blessings would come your way!God bless you guys! Peace out! The Wizard was here...
June 4, 2008; Obama against McCain come November!
No guys! It ain't a boxing match-up. But it will be the match-up come November for the US Presidential Elections. A while ago, the final primaries took place at South Dakota and Montana. Hillary Clinton won South Dakota, while Obama won Montana. But after which, the magic number of delegates was passed by Sen. Obama. He passed 2,118 delegates, thus making him the official Democratic candidate for the November polls. He will be pitted against the official Republican candidate, Sen. John McCain. Too bad for Clinton, she wasn't able to catch up the delegate count as she lacks almost 200 delegates for her to be the official candidate. She is not considering concession yet as of this moment, though, as she looks ahead in the future, for the betterment of their party. That was the thing I watched after eating my breakfast. Haha! Another thing is that Obama is the first ever African-American to be an official candidate for the Presidential elections. After watching that, I ate my lunch, then watched my favorite noon-time show, Eat Bulaga! Then, after the program, I continued reading "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho, I'm now on Part 2, and I finished 50 pages today. The story and the journey of the young shepherd continues and it's get better! After reading, I ate my merienda, then I watched TV again! Then I took my bath, ate my dinner, and now I'm infront of the computer again! So there! And now, here are the results from today's PBA action, from the mecca of sports-entertainment, the Araneta Coliseum!1st GameWelcoat 86 (3-10)Magnolia 94 (7-6)WEL: Corey Santee- 21 pts, 1 reb, 5 assts, 4 stls.MAG: Olsen Racela- 20 pts, 4 rebs.2nd GameCoca-Cola 98Purefoods 100So there. Happy birthday dad! And may you have more to come!Another housemate will be voted off today on PBB so better check that out you guys! Who will be part of the Big 4, and who will not? We'll all find out! What a long day! Hope you guys enjoyed your day 'cause I did! God bless you guys! Stay safe! Peace out! The Wizard was here...
June 3, 2008; Do you smell what Barack is cookin'?
Today was another driving experience for me. After me and my parents went to Marikina and Pasig as part of my dad's business, I drove from there all the way here. And ever since the Lucena-Manila driving experience, I could say that I can now do this regularly. Haha! By the way, we ate lunch at Tiendesitas and we saw Kat Alano and Sib there, too. Kat picked up her dog from a store. I think she got it trimmed, haha! Kat is beautiful in personal! Haha! And another thing, I started reading the book entitled "The Alchemist" by Brazilian writer, Paulo Coelho. I finished the first 30 pages of the said book today, and I must say that this book is worth every peso, because of the different life lessons imprinted on it.Tomorrow will be the final primaries for the US Presidential Elections, wherein we will now know the official Democratic candidate as to whether New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton or Illinois Senator Barack Obama. The states on which the primaries will be held will be in South Dakota and Montana, both states which are in favor of Sen. Barack Obama. Now the question is, if Sen. Obama would be the candidate of the Democrats, and eventually win the general elections in November, is America ready for an African-American president? Maybe the change is upon the United States. We'll all find out tomorrow morning. And now, for all you wrestling fanatics, here are the results from the recently concluded WWE pay-per-view, One Night Stand, the only night when the WWE goes extreme!1. Jeff Hardy def. Umaga in a Falls Count Anywhere Match after Hardy pinned Umaga after a Swanton Bomb off a semi-trailer.2. The Big Show def. CM Punk, John Morrison, Chavo Guerrero and Tommy Dreamer in a Singapore cane match. The Big Show became the number one contender to face ECW Champion Kane for the championship on the Night of Champions.3. John Cena drf. John "Bradshaw" Layfield in a First Blood Match. JBL bled from the mouth while being applied by the STFU by Cenawith a steel chain.4. Beth Phoenix def. Melina in an "I Quit Match" to retain the WWE Women's Championship after Phoenix applied the chickenwing to Melina.5. Batista def. Shawn Michaels in a Stretcher match after The Animal delivered the spine buster on Michaels on to the steel ring steps.6. Triple H def. Randy Orton in a Last Man Standing match to retain the WWE Championship after Orton failed to answer the ten count after Triple H hit him with the sledgehammer.7. Edge def. The Undertaker in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs match to win the vacant World Heavyweight Championship. And as per the stipulation of the match, The Undertaker was forced to leave the WWE.Well, Game 1 of the NBA Finals will be on Friday. So 3 days more for the much anticipated match-up between the Celtics and the Lakers. It will shown LIVE on C/S RPN at 9 am.What a day! And I hope tomorrow will be another great one! God bless you guys! Peace out! The Wizard was here...
June 2, 2008; The Celtics and the Lakers again?
Today, I will tackle the upcoming NBA Finals series, maybe the first series that brought back the ball to the NBA since the Bulls-Jazz series. It's between the Eastern Conference Champions, the Boston Celtics, and the Western Conference Champions, the Los Angeles Lakers.Just when you thought that the Lakers-Celtics match-ups during the 80's are history? Think again! These two teams will collide for the Larry O'Brien Championship trophy for the 11th time. Most of the experts during the pre-season predicted that these teams would be facing for the championship, and they were right all along. The Celtics' acquisition of Garnett and Allen, as well as their captain and mainstay Paul Pierce, brought them back to glory road as they dominated the East and finishing with the league's best record, 66-16. While the Lakers on the other hand, had the services of their leader, Kobe Bryant, who was named the league's MVP for the first time in his career, along with the key acquisition of big man Pau Gasol from the Memphis Grizzlies, made the season for them, who finished the regular season with the best record in the West, 57-25. But since the Celtics finished with the league's best record, they had the privilege of the homecourt advantage for the entirety of the playoffs, the Finals included. So that means Game 1 on Friday will be played in the Bean Town, so as Games 2, 6, and if necessary, the 7th game. While the Lakers will be having their own share for Games 3, 4, and Game 5, also if necessary.During the 80's, when you say Lakers-Celtics, it's like the Crispa-Toyota or Ateneo-La Salle here in the Philippines. History binds these teams together. Bad blood surrounds everybody. Pride is at stake. Players would do anything just for their team to gain the victory. Before, there was Magic vs. Larry. Their rivalry goes way back to their NCAA confrontation on 1979, as Johnson's Michigan State University Spartans defeated Bird's Indiana State University Sycamores for the Division 1 Championship. The question is, would these year's confrontation bring about these kind of excitement? Would they prove that they are worth talking about? I do hope they would. Even though the Magic-Larry match-up can't be repeated or copied, I hope that today's Lakers and Celtics bring about the excitement everyone's hoping for.I will post the starters of both teams.LA LakersCoach: Phil JacksonC Pau GasolF Lamar OdomF Vladimir RadmanovicG Kobe BryantG Derek FisherBoston CelticsCoach: Doc RiversC Kendrick PerkinsF Kevin GarnettF Paul PierceG Ray AllenG Rajon RondoThese teams have an even match-up for their starters. What the Lakers have that the Celtics lack is championship experience. The backcourt tandem of Bryant and Fisher have 3 championship rings together, while the Celtics just have one player on their roster who has that experience, who goes by the name of James Posey, who won the ring back in 2006 when he was a member of the Miami Heat. What the Celtics have that the Lakers lack is quickness. The Celtics have a run and gun type of offense, while the Lakers are known for their triangle offense, set up by coach Phil Jackson. Another thing is that the Celtics have a younger bench. They have a crop of young talents who can do a lot of things for them.We will all find out if these things will put into play as Game 1 of the NBA Finals commence. It will be shown LIVE on C/S RPN at 9:00 a.m., from the TD Banknorth Garden in Boston, Massachussetts. I do believe that Solar Entertainment sent broadcasters to bring the action to us straight in our native language, and also a mix of English. I believe one would be "The Dean" Quinito Henson, but I'm not sure of his partner.Tomorrow will be another one! God bless you guys! Peace out! The Wizard was here...
