August 31, 2008; Maybe the best! UE vs. UST!
The 71st Season of the UAAP is stil on-going. And things are looking great for the league. The quality of the games are now being compared to those in the United States. The games a while ago were really good, especially the main game between UE and UST. The score was 74-52 after the third quarter, with the UE Red Warriors leading. After some possessions, UST was still trailing. But, on the halfway mark of the final chapter, UST head coach Pido Jarencio complained on a no-call on the Clark Bautista shot, en route of him being thrown out of the game. So, it was time for Assistant Coach Beaujing Acot to take over. And fortunately for the Tigers, mybe the departure of their head coach was what they needed. They catapulted on a huge run, even cutting down the lead of the Warriors to just two points. Even the commentators cannot believe what they were seeing. After being down but as much as 24 points, UST made a run! Outscoring UE 35-15 in the final quarter. 35 points is a season-record, as the highest scoring quarter for any team this season. But indecisions made by Clark Bautista and Francis Allera in the end game made the difference as the UST Tigers bowed out to the UE Red Warriors, 89-87. The Warriors now hold the 4th and final spot for the playoffs. UST doesn't a chance to be part of the Final Four for this year. In the first game, De La Salle defeated Adamson U, 84-79 in overtime to tie with FEU for second place.1st GameDLSU 84 (10-3)AdU 79 (2-11)OvertimeDLSU: Tied with FEU with 10-3 win-loss slate in 2nd place.AdU: Tied with NU with 2-11 win-loss slate in 7th place.2nd GameUE 89 (8-5)UST 87 (5-8)UE: Locking the fourth spot to join the playoffs.UST: Not making the Final Four for the first time in 3 years.Games on ThursdaySeptember 4, 2008Araneta ColiseumQuezon City1st GameAdamson Soaring Falcons (2-11) vs. NU Bulldogs (2-11)2:00 PM

August 23, 2008; No medals for us, again!
The Beijing Olympics will conclude tomorrow evening, and unfortunately, Team Philippines doesn;t have any medal to bring home to, simply because of the poor performance of the athletes. Guys like Harry Tanamor, Tshomlee Go and Marie Antoinette Rivero bowed out on just their qualifying matches. Needless to say, this Olympics is another failure for the Philippines. But even though it was a flop, some of our athletes broke their own records and the Southeast Asian records in swimming and weightlifting. Those were the likes of Miguel Molina and Daniel Coakley for swimming and Hidalyn Diaz for weightlifting. I hope that come the next Olympic Games which will be held in beautiful London, England come 4 years time in 2012, our team would do better and could take even a bronze for that matter. So there. Enough with that! And now, from the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City, here are the results from today's doubleheader from the 71st season of the UAAP!1st GameNU 58 (2-9)UST 68 (5-6)NU: Edwin Asoro- 12 pts, 10 rebs, 1 asst, 1 stl, 4 blks.UST: Francis Allera- 14 pts, 3 rebs, 2 stls, 2 blks.2nd GameFEU 83 (8-3)DLSU 75 (8-3)FEU: Mark Barroca- 26 pts, 7 rebs, 2 stls.DLSU: Rico Maierhofer- 18 pts, 13 rebs, 3 assts, 1 stl, 1 blk.Games tomorrowUAAP Season 71 2nd RoundAugust 24, 2008Araneta ColiseumQuezon City1st GameAteneo Blue Eagles (10-1) vs. UP Fighting Maroons (3-8)2:00 PM2nd GameAdamson Soaring Falcons (2-9) vs. UE Red Warriors (6-5)4:00 PMTomorrow will also be the Gold Medal Game for the Mens' Basketball Tournament in the Beijing Olympics. August 18, 2008; My longest so far!
Before you think of something else, I will tell you guys the thing. Since my dad can't drive because of an injured ankle, I was the one who drove from our house (Cainta, Rizal) to my mom's province at Bataan. That was a 120-kilometer drive, including the North Luzon Expressway. We stayed there until 6 pm. We attended the wedding of my cousin. I was a secondary sponsor, while my dad was a principal sponsor. I was also the one who drove from there back here. So that makes an almost 300-km drive for me yesterday. Which was fun! My dad was on the passenger seat, while my mom was at the back seat. My dad was giving me advises while driving. I was going full throttle, even reaching 140 km/h along the Expressway, and mind you guys, I'm driving our Pajero! Haha! So my driving is so controlled because one mistake would lead to something bad. So there! And now, here are the results from the Sunday Showdown from the UAAP Season 71 from the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City!1st GameAdU 59 (2-8)ADMU 78 (9-1)AdU: Jerick Canada- 12 pts, 8 rebs, 5 assts, 3 stls, 1 blk.ADMU: Rabeh Al-Hussaini- 29 pts, 6 rebs, 2 assts, 1 stl, 1 blk.2nd GameUST 69 (4-6)FEU 74 (7-3)OvertimeUST: Jervy Cruz- 30 pts, 13 rebs.FEU: Reil Cervantes- 20 pts, 4 rebs, 1 asst.Games on ThursdayAugust 21, 2008Araneta ColiseumQuezon City1st GameUP Fighting Maroons (2-8) vs. Adamson Soaring Falcons (2-8)2:00 PM2nd GameAteneo Blue Eagles (9-1) vs. UE Red Warriors (6-4)4:00 PMAnd for the PBA.
