May 15, 2009 (Part 2); Another clincher in Los Angeles
Confidence, confidence, confidence.
That alone kills your chances of winning a game.
And that killed the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 6. The Rockets started the game with a 20-3 run. And they never looked back after that. They even lead by 16 after halftime, with Luis Scola having the game of his life.
The Argentinian led the Rockets with a double-double performance, scoring 24 points and grabbing 12 rebounds, as the Rockets forced a deciding Game 7 with a 95-80 win in Game 6.
Aaron Brooks led the charge for the undermanned Rockets, who are without the services of Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady. Brooks scored 26 points on 8 out of 13 from the field, along with 3 rebounds and 4 assists. Carl Landry, who replaced Chuck Hayes in the 3rd period after collecting his fifth personal foul, had a perfect game with 15 points on 6 out of 6 from the field, along with 9 rebounds. Ron "The Warrior" Artest poured in 14 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists.
Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with the game-high 32 points, with 2 boards and 3 dishes. Pau Gasol finished the game with a double-double, scoring 14 points and holding on to 12 rebounds. Jordan Farmar had 13 points and 2 rebounds, while Lamar Odom, who still nurses a sore back, jutst scored eight points on 28 minutes of playing time, along with 14 rebounds.
The underdog Rockets will now join the Lakers on a trip back to Los Angeles for Game 7 on early Monday morning here in Manila, at 3:30 AM, which will be followed by another Game 7 of the Boston-Orlando series at 8:00 AM from Boston.
