May 13, 2009 (Part 3); Another terrific game for the Celtics

Why is it that whenever Boston is playing a playoff game this season, it is somewhat turning into a classic?

It was another terrific game for the Celtics today. They overcame a 14-point hurdle and defeated the Orlando Magic, 92-88 to win Game 5. They now lead the best-of-seven series 3 games to 2.

They could wrap up the series on Friday for Game 6.

A big factor for the Boston rally in the late game was Stephon Marbury, who catapulted the Celtics off the bench to relieve Rajon Rondo. He provided the energy that his teammates got for the run they did.

The rally became a success after a Ray Allen three-pointer with 1:20 left in the fourth quarter. That gave Boston their first lead since midway in the third period. And after that, the defending champions never looked back.

It was as if Dwight Howard was nothing for the Celtics as they held him down to just 10 attempts for this game for a total of 12 points, and having 17 rebounds.

There are also rumours spreading around the league which would be a good news for all you Celtics fans. It was said that if ever the Celtics would make it through to the conference final, they will have the services of Kevin Garnett. Let's see if it's true.

The Celtics were led by Glen Davis with 22 points and 7 rebounds. Davis is playing the game of his life as he is relieving Garnett in the power forward position. Paul Pierce almost had a triple-double, scoring 19 points with 9 rebounds and 8 assists. Ray Allen added 13 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists, while Stephon Marbury finished 12 points and 2 assists.

The Magic on the other hand were led by Rashard Lewis with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. And along with the 12 point and 17 rebound performance of Howard, he also had 1 assist on 5 out of 10 from the field. Hedo Turkoglu finished with 18 points and 7 assists, while point guard Rafer Alston chipped in 16 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists.

So, will the Celtics wrap up the series to move on to the conference finals for the second straight season? Or will the Magic prevent to onslaught on their own homecourt?
