June 4, 2009 (Part 1); Another A(H1N1) case from DLSU
Yes, it is official.
The 23rd case of the Influenza A(H1N1) virus was confirmed as a 20-year old male Japanese exchange student from the De La Salle University.
It was confirmed this afternoon by Health secretary Francisco Duque III, saying that case # 23 might have had contact with the Lasallian female exchange student confirmed with A(H1N1) infection yesterday. Another reason is that the Lasallians were dorm-mates.
What was then a bustling DLSU campus is now a ghost town. No students nor teachers inside the campus due to the 10-day class suspension starting today until June 14th.
And apart from the DLSU student, their were six other cases tallied today, a 20-year old man, a 23-year old pregnant woman, two females and their 18-year old male family member, and a staff from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
ADB's senior director for external affairs, Ms. Ann Quon, confirmed the DOH statement, saying that the ADB employee recently came from a "vacation from the United States" and went back to work on Monday.
She also said that ADB already has a crisis management plan, therefore operations of the said establishment will push through should the pandemic breaks out.
There you have it. Fresh news given to you guys.
God bless you guys! Stay safe! Peace out!
The Wizard was here... :)
