November 29, 2009 (Part 1); A good learning experience...
I am back! Yes, here I am once again to blog...hahaha!
First up, I would like to share to you guys what happened this past week.
It was our college week last week. We started the celebration by parading around the campus while all our costumes and all. Our block's theme was "Mafia Wars", an application from the social-networking site, Facebook. We all wore formal and truly, we all looked like a mafia. Haha!
Then comes Wednesday, when the basketball tournament started. Our block (CMT) would have had a game at 10 AM, but later did we knew that our opponents didn't show up, forcing a win in favor of our team via default. But our efforts weren't wasted because we just had a pick-up game with those students in the gymnasium. Good thing is that we won :)
Now in comes Friday, when we will face our next opponent. Our game would have started at around 7PM, but the thing is, our 4PM-7PM class is postponed, so we requested the tournament coordinator to just move our schedule ahead of time.
Little did we knew that it would spoil everything for our team.
We faced the Pharmacy Mens' Basketball Team.
The thing is, one of our teammates, is part of the varsity team, so he was hard on choosing what side to be on. Later on he realized that his heart belongs to our block. So there.
The game started at around 5:45 in the afternoon. Our team only had nine players on hand, so we needed to adjust on that.
First quarter started, and I was surprised on how well we did with the varsity team. The first period ended with the score of 4-3, in favor of the varsity team. Some of you guys may find it funny, but I am just telling the truth. Haha!
The second quarter came, and still, our team never fails to get close with the Pharmacy 5, ending the first half with the score, 14-10.
In comes the third quarter, where I had a chance to enter the game and show them what I've got, haha! Our team was then trailing 16-14. We had possession. I maneuvered my way to make sure that I could come up to the position in which I had no defenders, which I did, in the left hand side of our court, a teammate saw me open, passed the ball to me, and with no hesitations whatsoever, I threw the ball to the basket, from outside the arc, and sinking the shot. Ergo, first lead of the game at 17-16.
But in contrast, that was the last lead that we have ever tasted, as the Pharmacy 5 rolled on, especially in the fourth quarter, when they applied the trap defense to us, causing us to fumble the ball right in the middle of the court.
The game ended, 37-24.
It was a good learning experience for our team. Even though we didn't make it to the Finals, at least we showed something that we will all be proud of :)
So there you have it, you guys have just been fed!
God bless you guys! Stay safe! Peace out! The Wizard was here...:)
Comments, questions and suggestions are highly appreciated! :)
