September 13, 2009 (Part 2); Four greats and the greatest into the Hall of Fame

Yesterday, 5 new people were enshrined into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachussetts, the birthplace of the sport.

Here are the people who made the Class of 2009!

1. John Stockton
- played in 19 seasons (1984-2003) all for the Utah Jazz (NBA)
- finished his career with 19,711 points, 15,806 assists and 3,265 steals
- holds the NBA record for most career assists and steals
- 10-time NBA All-Star (1989-1997, 2000)
- NBA's 50th Anniversary All-Time Team
- 2-time All-NBA First Team selection
- 6-time All-NBA Second Team selection
- 3-time All-NBA Third Team selection
- 5-time NBA All-Defensive Second Team selection
- 2-time Olympic gold medalist (1992, 1996)

2. David Robinson
- played in 14 seasons (1989-2003) all for the San Antonio Spurs (NBA)
- 3-time Olympian (1-time Bronze medalist in 1998 Seoul Olympics, and 2-time Gold medalist in 1992 Barcelona and 1996 Atlanta Games)
- served as an officer in the U.S. Navy
- finished his career with 20,790 points, 10,497 rebounds and 2,954 blocks
- 2-time NBA Champion (1999, 2003)
- 1-time NBA MVP (1995)
- 10-time NBA All-Star (1990-1996, 1998, 2000-2001)
- 1-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year
- 4-time All-NBA First Team selection
- 2-time All-NBA Second Team selection
- 4-time All-NBA Third Team selection
- 4-time NBA All-Defensive First Team selection
- 4-time NBA All-Defensive Second Team selection
- 1990 NBA Rookie of the Year
- 1990 NBA All-Rookie First Team selection
- 1-time NBA Sportsmanship Awardee
- NBA 50th Anniversary's All-Time Team

3. C. Vivian Stringer
- only collegiate coach, male or female, to take her team to 3 separate Final Four Appearances (Cheyney State, Iowa and Rutgers)
- 3rd winningest coach in women's basketball history
- has won over 800 games in his coaching career
- member of the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame

4. Jerry Sloan
- has a record of 1,137-751, up to the end of the 2008-09 season, as head coach of the Utah Jazz
- only coach in NBA history to win 1,000 games with the same team
- longest tenured head coach in all major professional sports

5. Michael Jordan
- regarded as the greatest who ever played the game of basketball
- played in 14 seasons (1984-1993, 1995-1998) for the Chicago Bulls and 2 seasons (2001-2003) for the Washington Wizards
- finished his career with 32,292 points, 6,672 rebounds and 5,633 assists
- 6x NBA Champion (1991-1993, 1996-1998)
- 5x NBA MVP
- 14x NBA All-Star
- 3x NBA All-Star MVP
- 6x NBA Finals MVP
- 1x NBA Defensive Player of the Year
- 10x All-NBA First Team Selection
- 1x All-NBA Second Team Selection
- 1985 NBA Rookie of the Year
- 1985 NBA All-Rookie First Team selection
- 2x Olympic Gold Medalist (1984, 1992)
- 2x NBA Slam Dunk Champion
