June 9, 2009 (Part 4); RP 5 relentless over Indonesia
Hotshot James Yap starred in Powerade-Team Pilipinas' 103-64 onslaught of Indonesia to remain unbeaten in the 8th Southeast Asian Basketball Association (SEABA) Men's Championship last Sunday night at the Angkasapura Lanud Basketball Hall in Medan, Indonesia.
The Purefoods stalwart poured 13 of his game-high 21 points in the first half, drilling in three consecutive triples in one breathtaking run in the second quarter as the Nationals notched their second consecutive win in as many games in the meet serving as qualifier for the FIBA-Asia men's basketball championship.
Next for the PBA-backed national squad is winless Singapore late Monday as it tries to complete a sweep of the preliminary round and move into the championship game Tuesday against the winner of the Indonesia-Malaysia game.
Ryan Reyes joined injured teammates Jayjay Helterbrand and Sonny Thoss in serving as utility personnel during the pre-game shootaround. Reyed pulled a hamstring during Saturday's game against Malaysia.
The Nationals now has a total of 4 injuries in Helterbrand, Thoss, Reyes and Kelly Williams, who was diagnosed with a blood disorder.
There you have it!
