May 8, 2009 (Part 1); A Double Whammy for the Hawks
The Cleveland Cavaliers are looking for a fight, but so far, they can't find any.
And much to the dismay of the Atlanta Hawks, and maybe for the Cavs as well, Joe Johnson rolled his right ankle after taking a shot over LeBron James in Game 2.
X-rays revealed that Johnson is doubtful for Game 3 on Sunday Manila time.
The Cavs cruised past the Hawks, 105-85, thus taking the the commanding 2-0 lead in their series.
The Cavs are now 6-0 in the postseason, tying the record set by the 2004 Indiana Pacers by winning their sixth straight playoff game by double digits.
This lack of challenge for the Cavaliers would eventually put them down. They are now doing what the Los Angeles Lakers have done last down. The Lakers simply cruised past every opponent in the West playoffs, only to be beaten by the Boston Celtics in the Finals.
I believe that the Cavs needs some challenge and physicality. The Hawks should try to do what the Houston Rockets are doing to the Lakers on their side of the Playoffs, so that in the long run, the Cavs won't be rattled by how physical the game really is.
LeBron James even took a swipe at the Washington Wizards, by telling that the Wizards have tried to be physical to him. He even said that they (Wizards) aren't a tough team, so he wasn't really challenged.
LeBron, you're the MVP and you're a great player, we all know that, but I personally believe that if your team would reach the Finals, your team will have a hard time against whoever will be the champs in the West. It will be rough times.
Of course, LeBron led the Cavs with 27 points together with 5 assists and 3 boards. Wally Szczerbiak provided the spark off the bench, scoring 17 points and grabbing 3 rebounds. Mo Williams added 15 points and 5 rebounds. Delonte West scored 14 points and having 3 rebounds, while Anderson Varejao finished the game with 12 points and 8 rebounds.
Maurice Evans led the Hawks with 16 points and 4 assists. Thomas Gardner scored 12 points and grabbed 2 rebounds off the bench. Mike Bibby only had 11 points and a rebound, while the injured Johnson finished off with 10 markers and 3 boards.
