May 7, 2009 (Part 3); Little guys do wonders for Boston
We are so used of hearing Paul Pierce and Ray Allen's names as they lead the Celtics in victory. But this time, it's the little guys turn to produce.
Rajon Rondo and Eddie House led the Celtics to victory, 112-94, to tie their best-of-seven series against the Orlando Magic at 1 game a piece.
Rondo finished with a triple-double, his third in the playoffs, scoring 15 points, grabbing 11 rebounds and dishing out a remarkable 18 assists, while Eddie House shuttered a new career playoff-high scoring 31 points on 11 out of 14 from the field, with 4 rebounds and 2 assists.
Rondo is the only Celtic player other than Larry Bird to have three playoff triple-double games in one season.
Three other Celtic players scored in double figures, led by Ray Allen with 22 points and 6 rebounds. Kendrick Perkins had 15 points and 9 rebounds, while Glen Davis finished with 13 points and 5 boards.
Paul Pierce was the surprise for this game, as he just scored three points in 15 minutes of play. But nevertheless, the Celtics held on to victory.
Frenchman Mickael Pietrus led the way for the Magic with 17 points off the bench, along with 3 rebounds. Rashard Lewis also had 17 points, but with 10 rebounds. J.J. Redick finished with 15 points and a rebound. Hedo Turkoglu had 14 points and 3 rebounds, while Dwight Howard had 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Game 3 will be played on Saturday, May 9 at 7:00 AM, with the series shifting to Orlando.
