May 22, 2009 (Part 1); Williams, Thoss out of RP 5 for SEABA

Sta. Lucia's Kelly Williams and Alaska's Sonny Thoss will not be part of the final roster for the SEABA Men's Championships.

The announcement was made by PBA commissioner Renauld "Sonny" Barrios last May 21 on a press conference to announce the 12 players who will represent our country in the six-nation tournament which will be held in Medan, Indonesia on June 6-10.

And the decision was due to just one criterion, which is health.

Williams, who's also the reigning league MVP, was diagnosed with a condition in the blood known as idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura that has kept him out of the game for almost a month now, while Thoss is nursing a knee injury.

With the two out of the lineup, the lineup of the Powerade-Team Pilipinas looks like this.
