May 1, 2009 (Part 4); Rockets move on to second round; first time since 1997
They didn't need Tracy McGrady for this one.
Maybe the curse is true.
The Houston Rockets finally moves on to the second round of the playoffs for the first time in 12 years, beating the young Portland Trail Blazers, 92-76 on Game 6.
The Rockets used a big second quarter run to finish the Blazers off. They will now face the LA Lakers in the West Semis. The Lakers have won all of their four meetings in the regular season.
Ron Artest led the Rockets with 27 points and 2 assists. Yao Ming had a double-double, with 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Aaron Brooks finished the game with 13 points and 5 rebounds.
LaMarcus Aldridge led the Blazers with 26 points and 5 rebounds. Brandon Roy had 22 points and 4 rebounds. They were the only two Blazer players who scored in double figures. Travis Outlaw just had 9 points and 3 rebounds for them. Inexperience finally shows upin this series, as the veteran Rocket team cruise on to victory.
The Blazers made the Playoffs for the first time since 2003. They improved 13 games from last season and reached its highest win total since the 1999-00 season.
Yao Ming will now celebrate because for the first time, he will move on to the second round of the Playoffs.

Rockets now move on to the West Semis to face the LA Lakers.
Game 1 between the Rockets and the Lakers will be played on Tuesday, May 5 at 10:30 AM from the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles.
