May 1, 2009 (Part 2); No Howard, no problem for Magic

Even though Dwight Howard was not available for this game due to suspension, the Orlando Magic still has a lot of guns to put out.


Dwight Howard, who was suspended by the NBA due to the incident on Game 5 in which he elbowed Samuel Dalembert on the head, was not needed by the Orlando Magic as they took care of the Philadelphia 76ers, 114-89. The Magic now moves on to the Eastern Conference semi-finals, waiting for the winner of the Chicago-Boston series.

Hedo Turkoglu was even ejected after collecting his second technical foul due an incident with again, Samuel Dalembert.

The Magic were led by Rashard Lewis with 29 points and 7 rebounds. Rafer Alston had a double-double, scoring 21 points and finishing with 10 assists. J.J. Redick got 15 points and 4 assists. Mickael Pietrus had 14 points and 4 rebounds. Turkoglu pitched in 12 points and 5 assists, while Marcin Gortat also had a double-double, scoring 11 points and grabbing 13 rebounds.

The Sixers on the other hand were led by Andre Miller with 24 points and 7 rebounds. Andre Iguodala finished with 20 points and 6 assists. Louis Williams was the last bright spot for them, finishing with 17 points and 3 assists.

Philadelphia head coach Tony DiLeo told that the Magic had the first punch, but his team never had the counterpunch they badly needed, as they are now off to the off-season.

The Magic on the other side, will have a couple of days off as they prepare for the second round. Whether it is the Celtics or the Bulls, they will be ready for it.
