THIS JUST IN! Cavs' Mike Brown named Coach of the Year
Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Mike Brown was awarded as the 2009 NBA Coach of the Year after leading his team to its greatest regular season record at 66-16.
He also guided the team to its second Central Division title, and the number 1 seed in the Eastern Conference. And he is only the second Cavalier coach, after Bill Fitch in 1976, to ever win the said award.
Brown received 55 first-place votes and earned 355 total votes from a panel of 122 sports writers and analysts. Houston's Rick Adelman finished second with 151 points while Orlando's Stan Van Gundy finished third with 150.
New Orleans head coach Byron Scott was the recipient of the award last year.
The Cavs will host the Pistons for Game 2 of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal tomorrow, April 22, at 8:00 AM.
