April 23, 2009; Hornets easy pickings for Nuggets

The addition of Chauncey Billups to the Nuggets paid off really well.

The Nuggets made easy pickings of the New Orleans Hornets, beating them, 108-93, the same scoreline a while ago when the Miami Heat defeated the Atlanta Hawks.

The former Piston had a game-high 31 points, together with 4 rebounds and 4 assists. All-Star forward and Olympic gold medalist Carmelo Anthony had 22 points and 9 assists. J.R. Smith poured in 15 points for the Nuggets, who now lead the series 2 games to none.

The Hornets on the other hand, were led by the 21 point-10 rebound performance from David West. Peja Stojakovic contributed with 17 points on 4/5 shooting from beyond the arc. Chris Paul had a so-so game, posting a double-double performance with 14 points and 13 assists.

Game 3 will be on Sunday, April 26, at 1:00 AM Manila time, with the series shifting gears to the New Orleans Arena in New Orleans, Louisiana.
