April 22, 2009; Lakers too much for Jazz

The Los Angeles Lakers have once again proved that they are the best team in the league, with the possible exemption of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Lakers fought their way onto beating the Utah Jazz, 119-109, to have a commanding 2-0 series lead before going to Salt Lake City for Game 3 on Friday.

The Jazz are still without the services of big man Mehmet Okur, who was sidelined due to a mild hamstring strain. Therefore, it was up to Jarron Collins, the only big guy left for the Jazz to try to defend the likes of Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol, but coach Jerry Sloan preferred a smaller lineup. He utilized the likes of Paul Millsap and Carlos Boozer, who are both just 6'9" tall, as match-ups for the big men of the Lakers.

The Lakers were led by the tandem of Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol, scoring 26 and 22 points, respectively. Lamar Odom added 19, while Derek Fisher and Andrew Bynum dropped 11 and 10 points, respectively for the defending Western Conference Champions.

Point guard Deron Williams had a game-leading 35 points on a losing effort for the Jazz, while Carlos Boozer punched in a double-double performance, with 20 points and 10 rebounds.

Game 3 will be on Friday at 10:30 AM Manila time.
