April 13, 2009; The Kiko Machine!
Kiko strikes one again! The 17-year old Italian striker shot the winning goal on the 75th minute of their match against Sunderland F.C. in the Stadium of Light. It's been a good week for Kiko since he was also the one who shot the winning goal last week against Aston Villa on injury time. And indeed, Kiko is a blessing for the Manchester United Football Club, who is looking to repeat the historic Treble in 1999.
Federico Macheda, came off the bench to replace Dimitar Berbatov. Cristiano Ronaldo, who was involved in 20 of the Reds' 22 games this year, dropped to the bench for a well-deserved rest, but later on replaced Ji-Sung Park. Argentinian striker Carlos Tevez was replaced by Anderson. The Reds' utilized a 3-striker starting lineup for the first time in quite a long while.
Veteran Paul Scholes fired the first goal for the Reds at the 19th minute, while Kenwyne Jones levelled the playing field at the 54th minute for the Black Cats.
With the win, the Reds are now three points away from retaining their Premier League title. They still lead the Premier League table with 71 points, with a game on hand against closest rivals Liverpool with 70 points, and Chelsea with 67 points.
