May 4, 2008; De La Hoya defeats Forbes!
The fight between "The Golden Boy" Oscar De La Hoya and Steve "2 Pound" has just concluded. De La Hoya won via a unanimous decision, and the official scores were 119-109, 119-109 and 120-108. De La Hoya proved to be a crafty veteran by putting on a boxing lesson against Steve Forbes, the champion of the 1st season of The Contender. The veteran outboxed Forbes with combinations of jabs, hooks and uppercuts to the face.
And now, the continuing coverage of the 2008 NBA Playoffs.
First up, Game 1 of the East Semis between the Orlando Magic and the Detroit Pistons, wherein the Pistons rocked the Magic, 91-72, to take the first blow in the series and the lead, 1-0. Chauncey Billups led the way for the Pistons with 19 points and 7 assists, while Rip Hamilton had 17 points and 6 rebounds. Hedo Turkoglu and Rashard Lewis combined for 36 points and 14 rebounds for the Magic on a losing effort. Game 2 will be on Tuesday at 7:00 a.m.
And to wrap it all up, Game 1 of the West Semis between the San Antonio Spurs and the New Orleans Hornets, wherein the Hornets surprised the Spurs with a 19-point win, 101-82, to lead their series, 1-0. David West led the Hornets with 30 points and 9 rebounds, while Peja Stojakovic had 22 points and 4 rebounds. Tony Parker had 23 points and 5 rebounds for the Spurs, while Tim Duncan was held to a season-low 5 points. Game 2 will be on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.
